FAQs

On which level of swimming should I register my child?

As a general rule, children start at Level 1, unless your child is not fully accustomed to water. If your child has already acquired some basic swimming skills or has previously attended a swimming course, please contact us, so we could help you with the classification.

How large are the course groups?

In our school teaching the children swimming takes place only in small groups, usually with 5 to 8 swimmers.

Do I have to pay admission?

That depends entirely on the course location, so please check for the details on www.wannaswim.ch under Courses.

Is there a family discount?

The siblings’ discount is 10% for the 2nd child (if registered within same swim semester)

Are there free trial lessons?

Unfortunately not. The registration for the swimming course is binding. However, you are welcome to contact us if you are unsure about your child’s classification. In case there is a big discrepancy between the level of the course and your child performance, we would facilitate the transfer to another, more suitable level.

Can my child stay in the pool or showers after swimming?

Children under 10 years of age are not permitted to stay in the water or in the indoor area of the pool without parents/care takers, or with older siblings before and after the swimming courses. Parents bear a full responsibility for their children before and after the course.

At level 1-7, swimming goggles are not allowed. The children should learn to get used to the water without using a swimming goggles and without glasses under water. If a child should fall into the water and he/she should be ready to orient him-/herself without goggles in the water with his/her eyes open. However, if the child needs glasses because of medical conditions, the goggles are permitted. The same applies when your child is particularly sensitive to chlorine.

If your child has not passed the test, we will inform you and discuss with you the possibilities (e.g. additional swimming lessons, private swimming lessons) so that your child can successfully complete the test.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult in the indoor pool. Parents bear full responsibility for their children before and after the course.

Do you offer swimming lessons during school holidays?

It is possible. As a rule, we offer intensive courses during school holidays. Please, check our website for more info www.wannaswim.ch or contact us by phone or email.

Why do I have to wear swimwear as a companion in the swimming area?

Street clothing is not allowed in according to the indoor pool regulations. Every guest of the swimming pool must have a swimwear on, which does not cause any offense and meets the requirements of standard cleanliness. We kindly ask you to follow these rules.

Is there a guarantee that my child will be able to swim alone after completing the course?

We can not give such a guarantee, since children are generally different and have different physical, mental and coordinative capabilities. Some children learn faster how to swim, some just need more time. Surely we will give you a good recommendation as to where your child could swim or if he/she is not there yet.

Do I have to sign up for a follow-up course or my child is automatically assigned to the next level?

You have to register separately for a next level course. You will receive information about the new courses by e-mail as soon as the new courses are available. Then you will have to register your child at www.wannawim.ch.
